Perhaps it’s happened to you. You wake up in the midnight and can’t move your body, or you wake up and see a ghost in your doorway. Sleep is assumed to be a restorative experience, but for people who have experienced creepy or mysterious things while sleeping, it can be downright scary.Here are the 8 Mysterious Things That Have Happened To People While They Were Sleeping.

1. Sleep Paralysis

If you’ve ever woken up & couldn’t move your body you may have undergone sleep paralysis. When some people accuse this position of being possessed with an evil being, it’s actually a sign that you are not moving easily through the stages of sleep.

Sleep paralysis is a sense of being conscious but unable to move. It happens when a person passes between stages of wakefulness & sleep. Throughout these transitions, you may be unable to move or speak for a few moments.

2. Sleepwalking

The National Sleep Foundation explained, “Sleepwalking usually means more than just walking during sleep; it is a series of complicated behaviours that are carried out while sleeping, the most obvious of which is walking.”Signs of sleepwalking disease range from just sitting up in bed & seeing around, to walking around the bedroom, to moving the house and even driving long distances.

The study shows that people who are sleepwalking “may run away from the bed and they may be desperate to escape from a threat that they dreamed or imagined. Specialists say that while there is no cure, practising sound sleep hygiene can help reduce the problem.

3. Talking In Your Sleep

Sleep talking, recognized as somniloquy, is talking throughout your sleep without being aware of it. the National Sleep Foundation noted that sleep talking can involve complicated dialogues, complete nonsense.

If you have a talkative sleep spouse, it’s may be best to invest in some earplugs since there is no real treatment for this nightly behaviour.

4.  Sleep Driving


Sleep driving is often caused by certain prescription sleep aids that work by shutting off your conscious mind so you can go to sleep. If you don’t follow the directions properly, and you own an overactive sub-conscious mind, you could be going for drives without even knowing it. Sometimes that drive doesn’t end well and has even landed some people in jail.

5. Sleep Cooking And Eating


You may know that sometimes your subconscious mind wants something your conscious mind won’t allow, like crazed foods that you wouldn’t usually consciously choose to eat. The same sleep meds that can help you to drive in your sleep can further make you think it’s a great idea to whip up a meal. Often, the sleeping chef has no memory of the incident & can’t assume why the kitchen is a mess in the morning, they wake up completely or gain weight if they haven’t changed their diet.

6. Seeing Spirits And Ghosts


While some incidents of people waking up & imagining they see a ghost. According to psychology, this is not what happened to me. I know this because my dog actually woke me up howling at a figure in my bedroom doorway. So, if this has happened to you, and it can’t be defined by sleep paralysis, you are not missing your mind.

7. Free Falling


Personally, one of the scariest things that happen to me is thinking like I’m in a free fall. These sleep jumps can make you feel like you’re falling, and have been defined as shakes, spasms, and shock-like.

8. Feeling Like You Can’t Breathe


Usually, while I’m sleeping on my back, and it can be really freaky when you’re frightened awake because you feel like your throat is shutting up. This can be a kind of sleep apnea named obstructive sleep apnea, and it happens during the soft tissue in the rear of the throat collapses and blocks during sleep. If this is continuously happening to you, it’s will be a good idea to ask your doctor about it.
