Moreover, investigation of blood samples from people with insufficient sleep has shown metabolic changes that are comparable to those seen in obese people. Researchers assume that insufficient sleep could lead to fluctuations in the brain’s hypothalamus, which coordinates appetite and energy expenditure. These alterations in the brain may explain how insufficient sleep provides to weight gain.
Insufficient sleep has been concerned with the increase of type 2 diabetes. A research funded by the NIH, for example, stated that the term and quality of sleep can predict a person’s levels of haemoglobin A1c, that health care providers measure to observe blood sugar levels.
Sleep apnea, a condition in which a person momentarily obstructs breathing while sleeping, makes an increase in a person’s risk for various types heart conditions, including hypertension, heart disease, stroke, coronary & irregular heartbeat.
Research has found that having even one night of incompetent sleep increases blood pressure levels in people they already have hypertension. This conclusion may be one of the factors explaining the risen risk of heart disease in people they sleep too short.
While a single night of incompetent sleep can make you short-tempered and moody, chronically deficient sleep can lead to long-term mood disorders. Chronic sleep issue has been the concern to anxiety, depression, and mental distress. For instance, one researcher reported that participants they slept only 4 -5 hours per night were more stressed, angry, sad, & mentally exhausted than a corresponding group with longer sleep.
